Exchanging election results securely

Municipalities submitted election results by email or USB drive. A secure digital route was needed. We built a platform for uploads, file checks and permission-based access. An overview tracks progress. More than 320 municipalities submitted files securely. All 19 electoral districts used the platform for further exchange.

New cloud services available in ten minutes

Adding a cloud service took a week, slowing experimentation with new technology. We developed and introduced a platform for managing cloud environments and experiments by multiple users. A new service is now available within ten minutes. Eight times as many users can experiment with new technology.

Controlling robots in everyday language

NATO explored how people could easily control and understand multiple uncrewed systems. We demonstrated a robot dog that answers questions about its surroundings and follows instructions in everyday language. The demonstration showed how users can request information without technical expertise and how different systems work together.

Research data about wind farms was shipped around the world on hard drives. This took a great deal of time. We built a searchable publication and download platform, plus a tool for uploading large files. Researchers can find and download the data themselves. Pleio no longer needs to ship hard drives for this exchange.

A government agency wanted its own video calling solution, independent of large foreign providers. We built an accessible platform for browser-based calls, with screen sharing and background blur. Pleio can offer its own video calling platform to more than a hundred organisations using its software.

Introducing a different form of encryption often requires changes throughout an application. We are developing a demonstration in which encryption and digital signing methods can be exchanged. An interactive tour through the library

Reading advisers wanted to create tours suited to pupils' ages and the branch they were visiting. We built a first version for creating interactive tours with information and questions. The library can test the idea in practice. The advisers' experiences will guide the next version.

We connected current information from Almere City Marketing to emails, websites and screens at local businesses. The municipality and businesses promote current activities together. FlevoMeer wanted parents to experience the positive sides of gaming and social media as well as the risks. We made an online game in which parents experience situations from a child's perspective. Parents can play independently. Library staff use the game to start conversations about children's media use.

The Book Travel Machine

Taking children on an educational book journey from home and school

During lockdown, the library wanted to reach children at home and get them excited about books. Together with AppRuption, we built an online escape room with imaginary worlds and book-themed puzzles. The game was played over 8,000 times in its first months. More than ten other library organisations joined in.

Connecting sensors securely to command systems

The NATO Communications and Information Agency wanted to use sensor data securely in existing command systems during disasters. We built a prototype that collects sensor data and camera footage, recognises objects and shares the data in encrypted form. The prototype starts with one click and led to a scientific paper co-authored with NATO.
