Controlling robots in everyday language

ClientSHINE / NATO
Year2024

The challenge

NATO explored how people could use several uncrewed systems during a mission. This requires easy controls and good cooperation between systems from different partners. Users also need to understand what a system perceives around it.

What we delivered

At SHINE, WonderBit showed how a robot can communicate with a user in everyday language. Using a Boston Dynamics robot dog, we demonstrated that it could answer questions about its surroundings and perform tasks, such as finding a particular person. WonderBit also took part in a joint test mission with NATO partners and uncrewed systems.

The result

WonderBit showed how someone without technical expertise can control a robot and request information about its surroundings. The joint test mission showed how systems with different capabilities can work together in one mission.
