Social Farmer
Social Farmer is a digital platform through which Coöperatie Stadslandbouw Oosterwold and WonderBit work together to connect supply and demand for local harvests in a smart way. The idea for the platform originated in Almere Oosterwold, where everyone is required to take part in urban agriculture. Because many Oosterwold residents have no professional growing experience, digital support helps them contribute effectively to the local food supply. The crop planner gives everyone insight into who is growing what. This prevents residents from all growing the same crop and helps create a varied supply.
Previously, the cooperative managed this type of planning using Excel spreadsheets, which is very labour-intensive. Social Farmer makes the entire process of planning, growing and harvesting clearer and more efficient. It also makes it easier to connect with local sales channels, such as hospitality businesses and welfare organisations.
Social Farmer can now develop further thanks to financial support from Kansen voor West, which falls under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
